► RAF crews are still trying to shore up the banks of a river in Lincolnshire which burst because of torrential rain, flooding dozens of homes.

Firefighters helped hundreds of residents in Wainfleet escape their flooded properties, after two months’ worth of rain fell in just two days.

100 tonnes of ballast is being dumped at the breach of the river bank, to try to make sure there is no further damage.

But some fear the water will take a long time to subside and then, they will be faced with a massive clear-up.
